UCP 2023 Conference on Latinos with Disabilities
Join UCP for 2nd annual UCP 2023 Conference on Latinos with Disabilities, a national online conference spotlighting the role, impact, and influence of Latinos in the disability community. Open to the public. The three-day online event happens Oct. 17-19, 11 a.m to 3:30 p.m. Eastern each day. While many of the topics addressed will be of interest to the general disability community, the conference highlights the distinct ways (culturally, socially, economically, and historically) that Latinos with disabilities, their families, and service providers shape our society and communities at large. The PlayLA Adaptive Youth Sports Program
The PlayLA Adaptive Youth Sports Program raises awareness of the benefits adaptive sports can offer young people with disabilities, including enhancing lifelong leisure pursuits and helping achieve a more equitable quality of life. The city-wide initiative provides access to quality sports programming for youth of all abilities between the ages of 5 and 17.
PlayLA is the single largest commitment to youth sports development in California and serves as a legacy before, during, and after the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Learn more here.
World Cerebral Palsy Day
World Cerebral Palsy Day is a global movement that started in 2012. Last year, it reached over 10 million people. It aims to bring together people living with cerebral palsy, their families, supporters, and organizations from over 100 countries. All with the aim to ensure a future in which children and adults with cerebral palsy have the same rights, access, and opportunities as anyone else in our society. Learn more here.
Cerebral Palsy Summer Camp for Kids!
Are you ready for an incredible summer adventure? Check out the LuskinOIC|UCLA Center for Cerebral Palsy Summer Camp for Kids! In collaboration with Angel City Sports, this camp is specially designed for children with Cerebral Palsy, ages 5-11 (August 2nd-4th) and ages 12-18 (August 5th-7th).
Led by Paralympian Laura Goodkind, the camp offers a wide range of activities, including craft days, adapted calisthenics, and various adaptive sports clinics and competitions. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience full of fun, learning, and making new friends. So, mark your calendars and register today here!
Pretend City’s Neurodivergent Family Night
While Pretend City in Orange County is designed to engage children of all abilities, the children’s museum is aware that some children are more comfortable in modified surroundings. In that light, they offer Neurodivergent Family Night – a stigma-free, fun, and insightful event.
The kids are out of school and it’s time for children and their parents/siblings/caretakers to enjoy Pretend City in a sensory-friendly environment, along with other families. The children’s museum’s community partners, who specialize in supporting the neurodiverse community will be on-hand to enrich your family’s play experience with welcoming smiles and practical support. Specifically, for families with children of all ages from the neurodiverse community and with other disabilities. Pretend City will be closed to the public.
