Pretend City’s Neurodivergent Family Night

Date: July 27, 2023
Time: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
All

While Pretend City in Orange County is designed to engage children of all abilities, the children’s museum is aware that some children are more comfortable in modified surroundings. In that light, they offer Neurodivergent Family Night – a stigma-free, fun, and insightful event.

The kids are out of school and it’s time for children and their parents/siblings/caretakers to enjoy Pretend City in a sensory-friendly environment, along with other families. The children’s museum’s community partners, who specialize in supporting the neurodiverse community will be on-hand to enrich your family’s play experience with welcoming smiles and practical support. Specifically, for families with children of all ages from the neurodiverse community and with other disabilities. Pretend City will be closed to the public.

Inclusive Sol will be in attendance in July. Details here to RSVP for FREE!

Team 2637 The Phantom Catz from Palos Verdes Peninsula High School participated in a ride-on program. They awarded 4 kids modified toy cars via the GoBabyGo program. The program offers children with significant mobility impairment a means of mobility to explore their world.

The adaptable cars give children with mobility disabilities a chance to play and socialize with their peers more easily. Past research has shown that independent mobility is linked to cognitive, social, motor, language, and other developmental benefits in young children.
